Kansas Voters
VOTING IN KANSAS
WHY VOTE?
Democracy is the most important part of the American political landscape. It gives citizens the ability to shape this landscape according to the people. Without the right to vote, we wouldn't have many of the freedoms that we enjoy. Your vote is your voice. Be heard.
State Representative

Shelee Brim
Republican Candidate
"I will not only vote for children, but do my best to share my expertise in the Kansas Legislature to ensure lawmakers know that education is not a political issue.... it's a kid issue. These are our future doctors, inventors, and leaders and we need to invest in them first. It is incumbent upon on all Kansas legislators to be good stewards of the taxpayer's hard earned money."

Angeliina Lawson
Democratic Candidate
Democrat running for State Representative in W. Shawnee. Fiscal responsibility & excellent schools.
State Senate

Mary Pilcher-Cook
Republican Candidate
What's most important to me:
Protect funding for Johnson County schools so local tax dollars are not unnecessarily redistributed to other areas in Kansas for property tax relief.
Ensure government operates in the most efficient manner instead of asking taxpayers for a blank check, continually increasing their taxes.
Ensure Kansas citizens are given charge of their own health care, instead of being controlled by government systems.
Eliminate sanctuary cities that protect illegal immigrants who have committed horrible crimes and Mary would also work to protect children from pornography.

Vicki Hiatt
Democratic Candidate
"A good budget is built on a sound tax policy. The income tax exemption is bad policy for Kansas. Many state Republicans, including elected officials, have acknowledged that this exemption has led to unintended consequences. Ending the income tax exemption policy is a key component in stabilizing our budget and tax policy.
This year, the state of Kansas managed to keep the doors of schools open in a 39-1 vote. My opponent was the only NO vote, who took a stance against all other Republicans who had crafted the legislation. The solution, however, is still short term. The state of Kansas solved the budget problem for only one year."
National Representative

Kevin Yoder
Republican Candidate
"One of the most important aspects of Congress is developing, making, and monitoring laws. New laws are created every week. As a Member of Congress, I am trying to be actively involved in sponsoring and drafting legislation about issues that are important to you."
Congressman Kevin Yoder currently serves on the House Appropriations Committee.

Jay Sidie
Democratic Candidate
"Unlike many in Washington, Jay knows we have a serious problem with spending that must be addressed. Working to balance the budget is key to getting our economy back on its feet and creating good paying middle class jobs. Jay will fight for a responsible approach that balances our budget while making investments in the things that will make our country stronger – especially education, small businesses and the middle class."

Steven Hohe
Libertarian Candidate
"On my first day of as a Member of the 115th Congress along with abolishing the income tax system, I propose a halt to ALL spending until myself and the rest of Congress carve out a real budget starting with discretionary spending with across the board real cuts in all departments of a minimal of 10%. It's my "Dime for Time Principal."
National Senate

Jerry Moran
Republican Candidate
"Senator Moran has a long history of opposing reckless spending in Washington, and as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee has pushed for spending cuts, tougher funding standards and broad reform. As the Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman, he has the opportunity to focus on investing in policies that are vital to Kansas’ rural communities, such as agriculture research and extension and Farm Bill implementation.
Since joining the U.S. Senate, Senator Moran has also been a leading advocate for issues related to entrepreneurship, job creation and innovation. He is committed to putting policies in place that foster a pro-growth environment where businesses can succeed without government imposed barriers."

Patrick Wiesner
Democratic Candidate
"The future is here. Let’s make change. The Senate will be different because I will work on solving the people’s problems instead of following the orders of lobbyists. I pledge no more ideological fights that end up with nothing getting done. There will be solutions to the tax code, health insurance, and immigration. Social Security will be fixed. Hard work and savings will be rewarded. The debt will be paid. I’ll have your back in Washington so you can focus on your family."
"My Senate mission is paying off the government’s $19.4 trillion debt. Those of us who follow federal budgets know that neither the Washington Democrats nor Republicans have any intent, plan, or capability to make the government smaller."
